This is an excellent article giving significant reasons for why we are at a stock market top. I prefer to look at economic indicators before going fully defensive, and we are not currently in danger there yet. However, I have built a significant position in TLT, the 20+ year treasury bond ETF in case something goes wrong. If the Chicago Fed CFNAI (national economic activity index) reading goes below -1.00, it will be time to go completely defensive on stocks.

Precision Drilling (PDS) is a good buy right now to capitalize on the continuing oil and natural gas boom in America and Canada. As of August 20, the stock price has gone from $7.50 a few months ago to over $10 per share today. Shale oil drilling has been happening for quite a while with no signs of letting up, and we are about to see a lot of natural gas drilling as soon as the U.S. and Canada start to export LNG to foreign countries. PDS has hundreds of drill rigs, and you need to own the company while business is booming.
