Augusta Announces Completion and Availability of Rosemont Final EIS - MarketWatch

This is a link to another article about Augusta Resource.  The company has completed its final EIS, but it still has some more hurdles before the project gets fully underway.  As the article states, the company's Rosemont property will provide 10% of U.S. copper production when Augusta starts operating.  The company is very undervalued, and wise investors need to buy the stock now.

Augusta Resource Corp. (USA) (AZC): Augusta Resource Corporation: 7 Different Insiders Purchased Shares Last Week - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article by Markus Aarnio about Augusta Resource, a copper mining company.  I own the stock, and I plan to buy more tomorrow.  As Markus mentioned, the buying of insiders is a huge good sign for the company.  Also, the final environmental impact statement has been completed by the company.  Now is the time to buy before the stock gets too expensive.

KLONDEX MINES LTD (KLNDF): Klondex Mines: 6 Different Insiders Have Purchased Shares This Month - Seeking Alpha

This is a great article by Markus Aarnio about Klondex Mines.  I believe buying KLNDF is a good idea, and I plan to buy the stock on Friday morning.  The very high gold grade of 44 grams per ton is incredible.  Anything over 28 grams of gold per ton is exceptional. The fact that insiders have been buying stock in the company adds another outstanding reason to own KLNDF.

It's A Bull Market, Oh My! [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, MGM Resorts International, Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc., D.R. Horton, Inc., NCR Corporation] - Seeking Alpha

Here is another bullish article about the stock market.  The author believes that our national debt is not a problem, and that we are in the early stage a new business cycle which will support higher stock prices.  He especially likes some of the homebuilders like DHI.  I believe he is correct that we are in a good stock picker's market.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY): Bubble, Bubble, Toil And Trouble (For The Markets) - Seeking Alpha

This is a link to another article about how we are probably not currently in a stock market bubble.  The author also correctly states, though, that market returns will be low at the present high valuations.  Therefore, you will probably make more money in the next few years in good dividend stocks rather than the general stock market. I own Prospect Capital (PSEC) with an 11%+ dividend and SDIV which pays a 7%+ dividend.

Is A Stock Correction About To Catch Complacent Bulls By Surprise? - Seeking Alpha

Here is another outstanding article by Chris Ciovacco underlining the bull case for stocks.  Currently, good economic news is sending the market higher.  Chris states that only deflationary events will cause a correction such as bad economic news or bad earnings.  He also declares that aggregate demand sets asset prices.  Stocks are now paying more than bonds, and there is almost no economic fear to reverse the overall demand for stocks.

This is a link to five dividend stocks with a payout of more than 10%.  I own Prospect Capital myself (PSEC), and I recommend it.  The other stocks are also interesting.  High paying dividend stocks may be worth it since the stock market will probably slow its ascent down to a low level as we get toward the inevitable top for stocks.

Timmons Gold

The paradigm shift of lower gold prices has caused havoc with gold miners.  An investor must look in a lot of places to find a gold miner who can make a profit at less than $1,100 an ounce for the price of gold.  Timmons Gold (TGD) is one of these profitable companies.  You can click on the TGD link to visit the company's website and decide for yourself if you want to invest in the company.

Chris Ciovacco has written an excellent article on how to tell if we are on the verge of a bear market.  A lot of people think we are at a stock market top including me.  However, the stock market can keep going higher a lot longer than you might imagine.  Chris gave three reasons why 2013 is different from 2000 and 2007.  Market momentum as indicated by the MACD is still up.  Market breadth of new highs is still good.  Then, thirdly, junk bonds as indicated by JNK are still preferred over treasury bonds like TLT.  So, my hat is off to Chris for making a convincing case for being in the stock market right now.

This is a good article on Pershing Gold.  It is on my watch-list of just a few gold companies that I really care about.  The main problem with gold stocks right now is that the demand is not great enough to push up the price of gold to where most gold miners can be profitable.  I don't know when gold will turn bullish again, but I will be waiting for it.

Trusts: Profitable Or Principal Traps? Learn To Understand [Whiting USA Trust] - Seeking Alpha

This is a good article on oil and gas trusts.  Some have defined time limits of existence, and others are perpetual until the oil or gas runs out.  WHX and WHZ are time limit oil trusts.  The best way to make money on them is to buy them after the quarterly ex-dividend date sell-off when the stock price should hit a bottom in two weeks or less although it could still go lower.  Then, hold on to the stocks until they get close to the next ex-dividend day.  Sell the stocks while they are still high for a double-digit return each quarter without ever actually collecting the dividend.  In this way, you will not lose money on capital losses as the price gradually decreases over time.

Here is a good article on IVE, a value ETF which contains a lot of large companies including Berkshire and Walmart.  If you had bought IVE at the 52-week low of $63, you would have made a 32% capital gain along with the 2.2% dividend.  This is probably a stock worth owning, and you could buy more on pullbacks.

Whiting USA Trust I About To Drop By 50% - Seeking Alpha

Whiting USA Trust I About To Drop By 50% - Seeking Alpha

Here is an article predicting about 50% downside for WHX since it is already past its ex-dividend day.  It may not go all the way to 50% down because it is wildly popular with some investors.  It only dropped to $3.65 per share after its last ex-dividend pullback, and it immediately started shooting back to almost $6 per share after the $3.65 low.  Thus, you could probably buy at $3.65 or lower and ride it back up to over $5 per share.  You should be able to make 35% or more on the trade if you sell before the next ex-dividend while the price is still high.

Market's Bill Of Health: Market Rally Broadens Out As Financials And Consumer Staples Join The Party - Seeking Alpha

Market's Bill Of Health: Market Rally Broadens Out As Financials And Consumer Staples Join The Party - Seeking Alpha

This is a bullish article about how we are not currently near a stock market top because new highs are being made by a broad range of companies.  Most of the sectors are above their 200 day averages, and the trend is still rising.  One basic sign of a market top is that only a small percentage of companies are near their highs while a greater percentage of stocks are 20% or more away from their annual highs. That is not the case with stocks right now.  The broad bullish participation means we are not in immediate danger even though some stocks have gotten expensive.

The 'Sleep Well' Bond Rotation Strategy Which Has Returned 15% Per Year Since 2008 - Seeking Alpha

Here is an interesting article on bond ETFs.  For those who prefer holding or trading bonds as opposed to stocks, the author presents some good ideas.  Currently, bond funds like JNK are under-performing the S&P 500 and other ETFs like SDY and DVY.  A lot depends on what your comfort zone is.  For example, JNK has a 6.6% annual dividend that is paid on a monthly basis, but you won't get any significant capital gain whereas DVY is up 25% in the past 12 months along with a 3% dividend.  Also, if the stock market as a whole falls, JNK will fall with it.  Your only safety would be in government bond funds like TLT and cash.

6 ETFs That Can Beat SPY 4x Over, At Same Risk Ratio, Better Odds - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article by Peter Way about several ETFs that can probably beat SPY.  I especially like XRT, the retail ETF with holiday shopping about to ramp up.  I also like TQQQ which has gained more than 100% in the past year.  November is the beginning of the best six months in the year for stocks, and it would be wise to be in the greatest stocks during this period.

Taper Or Not, Stocks And Bonds Could Gain [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust] - Seeking Alpha

This is an excellent article by Guggenheim's Scott Minerd.  He maintains that the 10-year bond interest rate will remain relatively low, and this will be good for stocks and bonds.  We will stay in a bull market in the near term and probably quite a while.  The author also presented a chart about the S&P risk premium, and the graph shows that the risk premium has gradually moved down since 2011 while we have been in a steady bull run.  We are still above the danger zone which will be around a 2% premium.

Investors Are Once Again Ignoring All The Red Flags And Setting Themselves Up For Failure | The Felder Report

This is a link to another great Felder Report about why we are at a stock market top.  Stocks could still rise for months or even years, but the easy money has already been made.  Single digit returns might soon be the normal result.  This is why high dividend stocks matter a lot now because a 12% dividend stock like PSEC might beat the market over the next 12 months.  Felder also pointed out that the price of oil has fallen now whereas it used to be going up like the market.  Oil's downtrend could be another bear signal for stocks.

Bull Markets Don't Last Forever - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article about bull market duration.  The roll-overs are typical of tired bull runs.  New buyers probably won't hold on like the strong hands that bought stocks a few years ago.  This is a time to be cautious. Being in dividend stocks like PSEC, FSC, and LO might help you beat a gradually falling stock market.

^W5000: Summary for Wilshire 5000 Total Market Inde- Yahoo! Finance

Here is a link to the Wilshire 5000 stock market value.  It would be a good idea to track this number every two weeks or so compared to the Gross National Product that the Federal Reserve maintains as a statistic.  As I mentioned in the previous blog,  when the Wilshire value exceeds our GNP, that is when Warren Buffett believes we are at a stock market top.

Buffett's favorite market tool is flashing red- MSN Money

Buffett's favorite market tool is flashing red- MSN Money

This is a link to the article where Warren Buffett discusses his stock market top flashing red signal.  He was right in 2000 and 2007 when the Wilshire 5000 was valued more than the Gross National Product. Stocks crashed shortly after the market values got out of whack. Now, the red flashing is happening again in 2013 when the Wilshire 5000 is 18, 817 billion versus 16, 907.9 billion for the GNP.  Eventually, we will have no more new buyers for stocks.  Then, once the crash has happened, Buffett said the time to get back in is when the Wilshire 5000 is 70 to 80% of the GNP.  Those who are able to decipher the future will profit the most.

Gross National Product (GNP) - FRED - St. Louis Fed

Gross National Product (GNP) - FRED - St. Louis Fed

Here is a chart of the Gross National Product.  It is similar to the GDP but with a few technical differences. GNP is usually slightly higher than GDP.  As of 9-26-13, the GNP was 16, 907.9 billion dollars.  This is important compared to the Wilshire 5000 which now stands at 18, 817 billion dollars.  In other words, the Wilshire 5000 is overvalued compared to GNP.  According to Warren Buffett, whenever this happens, stocks are about to crash.  It happened in 2000 and 2007, and it is due to start happening again sometime soon.

Double-click on the chart to expand it.  This is another indicator investors could use for knowing when to be in or out of the stock market.  Notice that between August and October of 2011 SPY was below the 144 day-line for weeks, and the slope of the 144-day line pointed downward during that time also. This period coincided with a terrible Congressional battle over the debt ceiling, and our bond rating was also reduced at that time.  There was higher than normal selling volume at the start of this downturn, too.  It is better to be safe sometimes and just accumulate cash during those periods.

This is an outstanding article about why we are near a stock market top.  Amazingly, some fundamentals are still okay, and interest rates are still low.  These things are holding up the current market. However, eventually there will be no more new buyers, and stocks will fall.  We should be very cautious over the next few months, and cash may be the best asset to hold very soon.

Here is a great article by Ted Barac about bond investing.  Owning individual bonds may be attractive for some people,  but owning bond funds like JNK, HIX, and PHT are what I like to do.  These stocks also pay monthly dividends.  You must be aware of stock market crashes, though, because these stocks will fall with the general market.  Currently, we are not in danger of a great fall in stocks. Whenever the ten-year treasury bond starts yielding 4%, it may be time to switch to cash and government bonds because that is usually when a recession is on the way.

Finding ten bagger stocks is one of the great dreams of investors. Take a look at the multi-year chart of Priceline below.  Double-click on the chart to expand it.  I actually owned Priceline for about $5 per share after the dot.com bust of 2000-2001.  Unfortunately, I did not continue to hold it to gain thousands of percent in gains.  My first mistake was that I did not understand the business model well enough compared to other stocks than I understood.  Then, secondly, I did not know how long I would have to hold on to reap the reward.

What I should have done was to invest a small amount of money to start with that I could easily afford to lose, like $200.  Then, I should have given Priceline seven years to produce.  Thirdly, I could have dialed in a simple moving average line like 144 days to know when to sell Priceline and when to buy it back if I did not want to hold it the entire 12 years from 2001.  Ten bagger stocks take a lot of patience, and you may have 99 losers for one big one.  Most of your portfolio should be comprised of stable dividend paying stocks and bonds to assure that you don't lose all of your retirement looking for ten baggers.  But if you do ever find and hold a ten bagger, the reward will be outstanding and the satisfaction will be exhilarating!

Bonds Are Making A Statement About Markets And Economy - Seeking Alpha

Bonds Are Making A Statement About Markets And Economy - Seeking Alpha

Chris Ciovacco has written another great article about whether or not we should be invested in the stock market. His comparison of AGG bonds compared to the S&P 500 is outstanding for knowing whether you should be in or out of the market.  I agree with Chris that stocks are safe right now.  However, in other blog notes like the Felder Report, I have shown my bearish side in that it looks like we are at a market top.  The market can go up a lot longer than we can ever imagine, though.  We just need to be able and willing to get out when bear signals become overwhelming, but we need to stay in while we can still make money investing.  There is only so much time to accumulate wealth.

Stock Market and Bond Bubbles

There is no question that the stock market is overbought, but it is currently more attractive than low-yielding bonds.  I believe that stocks will gradually melt up until the ten-year bond yield gets to around 4%.  At that point, the stock market will become very shaky. High borrowing costs will lead to less business growth and fewer houses being bought.  This will eventually lead to another recession, and that will burst the stock bubble.  Also, when the ten-year bond gets to around 4%, investors will prefer the security of bonds over stocks, and the exodus back into bonds will cause a downward avalanche for the stock market.

LEDs And OLEDs Light Up Markets [General Electric Company, Cree, Inc., Sony Corporation (ADR), SAMSUNG ELECT LTD(F), Koninklijke Philips NV (ADR), Avago Technologies Ltd, LG Display Co Ltd. (ADR)] - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article about LED and OLED companies.  The author does a good job on comparing the advantages and disadvantages of both lighting devices.  For example, OLEDs are more expensive to make for phones, tablets, and TV screens, but the colors are more vibrant, and curved displays can be made in this way. Other disadvatages, though, are that organic OLEDs are more susceptible to humidity and temperature along with a shorter lifespan.

3 Reasons This Stock Market Is Eerily Reminiscent Of The Internet Bubble Years | The Felder Report

Here is an outstanding Felder Report about how it looks like we are at a stock market top.  Some popular stocks have PEs of 200 or more. Margin debt is higher than it was in 2000 and 2007.  The technical chart looks like the year 2000 also.  We need to be very careful about owning stocks now.
