TAN -- The Solar Stock ETF

Solar stocks came back into favor with the stock market in a big way in 2013.  TAN, Guggenheim's solar stock ETF, gained an amazing 135% for the year.  By holding TAN, you get instant diversification in the solar sector, and the top ten holdings are some of the best solar stocks.  You also don't have to worry about picking the wrong solar company.  TAN is a stock I missed buying in 2013, but I will be first in line to buy the stock on January 2, 2014.

This is a link to InvenSense (INVN), a motion sensing device company.  The company's chips are widely used in smartphones and tablets.  For example, when you turn a phone from vertical to horizontal for a wider view, the chip and programming that makes this possible most likely came from InvenSense.  The stock gained over 11% on the last trading day of 2013.  The stock is volatile, but I own shares in the company, and I plan to buy more.

Hydrogen Systems - Renewable Energy Solutions - Fuel Cell Technology

Here is a link to the Hydrogenics (HYGS) website.  The company deals with hydrogen handling and fuel cells.  The stock price is up around 100% for 2013, and sales are up around 35%.  Although hydrogen fuel cells have been slow taking off for transportation, we still have fuel cell lift trucks, some public transportation vehicles, and stationary power backup applications.  The stock is a worthwhile investment for a diversified portfolio.

The 7 Critical Economic Indicators You Need To Check Every MorningMoney Morning - Only the News You Can Profit From

This is a link to a great article at Money Morning.com which talks about 7 important indicators to analyze each day in reference to the economy and stocks.  The Baltic Dry Index is one indicator to watch because it involves a picture of the global economy through shipping. The ten-year treasury bond yield is another indicator that was mentioned.  If the treasury yield is down, stocks might be in for a pullback.  Conversely, a high yield is bullish like we saw in 2013.  The ten-year bond went from around 1.49% in July 2013 to around 3% in December.  Meanwhile, the S&P 500 gained 29% for 2013.

This is a link to CVD Equipment Corporation (CVV).  The company is one of the best in building equipment for state-of-the art designs and new inventions.  They are involved in graphene and solar processes, and these are two big waves of the future.  It would be a good idea to buy shares in CVV and stay up to date with what is happening at the company.

FRB: H.15 Release--Selected Interest Rates--Historical Data

Here is a link to the Federal Reserve's interest rate database.  Note that the 30-year treasury bond interest rate and Moody's BAA corporate bond rate are near the bottom of the page.  Daniel Moore of the Financial Market Vigilante blog illustrated in an important article that when the spread between the 30-year bond interest and the BAA corporate bond interest goes significantly above 2%, we are at a stock market top.  So, it would be a good idea to monitor the interest rate spread every week or two in order to get out of the stock market before most people do.  Currently, we are safe, though.

Financial Market Vigilante: Credit Market Signals make good Stock Market Leading Indicators

Financial Market Vigilante: Credit Market Signals make good Stock Market Leading Indicators

This is a link to the very informative article that Daniel Moore has written about how 2014 will be a good year for stocks.  Even with the Federal Reserve tapering announcement, Daniel insists that the Fed is still doing a great amount financially to support the economy and the stock market.  He also illustrates that the 30-year treasury bond yield spread compared to the BAA1 Seasoned Corporate Bond Yield is a warning signal for a stock market top when the spread is a little more than 2%.  Currently, the spread is around 1.5%, and we are not in danger.  At the height of the 2008-2009 crisis, the spread was almost 6%. This is a fantastic article by Daniel Moore that would be beneficial to everyone.

Financial Calculus - Free Investment Research Articles, Buy Book Theory of Financial Relativity

Here is a good website for valuable free investment advice about how the stock market moves, oil trusts, BDC companies, and other information.  The blog articles there are very informative.  Daniel Moore recently wrote a great article about why the stock market will continue to rise in 2014.  One reason is that the Federal Reserve is still helping out the economy in a big way because the Fed tapering is just a small pullback on what they have been doing financially.  I agree with Daniel Moore and his website's perspective.

3DPrintingStocks.com « News and Research on 3D Printing Stocks

This is an outstanding website for staying up with 3D printing stocks. A side panel on the left has a listing of important 3D printing stocks with their current prices.  Gary Anderson has written excellent articles on the website.  A recent article was about Lomiko Metals (LMRMF), a graphite company with the potential for manufacturing graphene for 3D printing.  They have a partnership with Graphene Labs, one of the largest suppliers of graphene.

Although Lomiko is a penny stock, Gary believes the company has great potential, and he was correct on another penny stock he recommended called Sigma Labs (SGLB).  He also cautions against penny stocks that are not legitimate.  So, 3DPrintingStocks.com should definitely be one of your best research websites for 3D printing stocks.

Zenyatta - Zenyatta Ventures Welcomes you to our New Site

Zenyatta - Zenyatta Ventures Welcomes you to our New Site

Here is a link to Zenyatta Ventures (ZENYF), a graphite mining company located in Ontario, Canada.  I have been a shareholder of Zenyatta for quite some time, and I believe it is a good company. Cliffs Natural Resources owns 9% of the company.  Zenyatta has high quality flake graphite on its property, and this is useful for making lithium-ion battery electrodes.  Electric and hybrid cars are becoming more popular, and we will have increased future demand for graphite.  ZENYF is a worthwhile speculative stock to own.

This is a link to the Mason Graphite website.  I previously wrote a blog article on the company with a link to a great article about Mason Graphite at SeekingAlpha.com.  It will be very worthwhile to stay in touch with the company through its website and by owning the stock, MGPHF.  The website has a good explanation of graphite uses such as battery electrodes. The company also explained that graphene, a manufactured useful form used in electronics, could be derived from graphite flakes.

Market Vectors Rare Earth Strat Met ETF (REMX): Ready For Rare Earth Rebound In 2014? - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article by Jeb Handwerger on rare earth minerals and companies involved in this space.  I own Molycorp (MCP) and Texas Rare Earth Resources (TRER).  The author did a good job illustrating where rare earth minerals are used on cars, and they are used in electronics also.  This is a volatile sector, but it is still worthwhile owning some shares in good rare earth companies.

Mason Graphite: Graphene Revolution, Lithium-Ion Battery Growth, And China Supply Woes Offer A Compelling Opportunity - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article on the many uses of graphite, and Mason Graphite will be one of the big winners as the world uses more graphite.  The author pointed out that the anode of lithium-ion batteries is made of graphite, and electric cars are just getting started for automobile sales.  CPUs can be made of graphene which is manufactured from high-quality graphite like MGPHF has.  Samsung is already working on these new CPUs which are many times faster than current ones.  At .66 per share, Mason Graphite is a multi-bagger buying opportunity.  I plan to buy shares when the stock market opens on Monday.

This is an outstanding article about short positions involving Canadian stocks.  It is worthwhile paying attention to shorts especially if you own a stock that is heavily shorted.  As the author mentioned, the same short interest can be found at the Wall Street Journal concerning American stocks.

Twitter (TWTR) was one U.S. stock that was growing in short positions, and it fell more than $9 per share on Friday.  I own Twitter as a long term holding because I think mobile phones and advertising have a great future.  However, you should not put your rent or mortgage money on TWTR.  The volatility in the stock will present outstanding trading opportunities, though.

For example, Twitter was downgraded by a brokerage firm when it went over $70 per share.  The weak hands and traders immediately sold the stock to take profits.  Eventually, though, TWTR will get back to $70 per share and beyond because people know mobile stocks are worthwhile.  Then, another brokerage firm might downgrade Twitter again, and the whole cycle will be repeated.  My point here is that you can probably make a lot of trading money on TWTR if you buy at $63 or less and sell it at $70 or better.  The trend is your friend until it no longer works.  Make the money while you can.

5 High-Yield Monthly Income Investments For 2014 [Reaves Utility Income Fund, PIMCO Dynamic Income Fund, Cohen & Steers, Inc.] - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article on monthly income stocks.  I love the stability and money I receive from monthly dividends.  The dividend stocks I recommend most are Prospect Capital (PSEC) and Pioneer High Income Fund (PHT).  They both pay higher dividends than the stocks that the author discussed.  However, as part of a diversified portfolio, I like the stocks that were discussed in this article.  The Cohen and Steers LDP preferred shares fund was interesting, yielding 8%.  The Pimco PDI fund with a 7.5% dividend is worthwhile, especially since Bill Gross, the bond king, owns it.  The Neuberger Berman MLP fund, NML, is a good sector investment with almost 7% for the yield.  Then, finally, I like the Reaves Utility Income Fund, UTG, with its 6% dividend for excellent stock diversification.

The Most Underappreciated Bullish Evidence [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, iShares Russell 2000 Index (ETF), Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF, Energy Select Sector SPDR (ETF)] - Seeking Alpha

This is another good article by Chris Ciovacco about why we should stay in the stock market.  As he mentioned, it is virtually impossible to pick the exact top for the market.  One reason for this is that investors are constantly adding money to their 401K funds, and that money will mostly go into stocks because many people who have mutual funds like large cap stocks and the S&P 500.  Chris also showed a couple of important charts.  One graph illustrated that consumer staples (XLP) was in a downturn compared to the S&P 500. In other words, people and institutions were not defensive.  The other important chart showed TLT (20+ year bonds) in a downtrend compared to SPY, the S&P 500 ETF.  People are not worried about stocks or the economy.

Facebook Inc (FB): Facebook: Wait For The Santa Claus Rally To Finish - Seeking Alpha

Here is an outstanding article on Facebook.  The stock is just getting started on its gigantic future.  I believe FB will be a 10-bagger stock like Google several years down the road.  The author presents a winning case for Facebook's rise in mobile ads, and mobile devices are the world's future.  GOOG, FB, and TWTR are great stocks for years to come.  If you don't want to buy high, just draw an 89 day moving average line, and load up on the stocks when they pull back.

Neuberger Berman MLP Income Fund Inc (NML): The New High-Yield, Monthly Dividend MLP Fund - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article about three different MLP funds.  Owning these MLP funds will allow you to have exposure to master limited partnerships without having to fill out the K-1 forms.  I own AMLP myself, and I am thinking about buying NML.  As the author mentioned, NML pays a 7% dividend in monthly installments, and it is 11% below fair value now.  So, you will probably get a capital gain along with the 7% annually.  I also love monthly dividend stocks.

12 Hydrogen And Fuel Cell Stocks [FuelCell Energy, Inc., Plug Power Inc, Ballard Power Systems Inc. (USA), Hydrogenics Corporation (USA), Quantum Fuel Systems Tech Worldwide Inc, China Ceramics Co Ltd, HyperSolar Inc, ITM POWER PLC STAMFD] - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article about hydrogen and fuel cell companies. I have followed the fuel cell industry for many years, and it is good to see that some of the companies should be profitable soon.  I own FCEL and QTWW, and I recommend these companies.  However, they should be part of a diversified portfolio since they will not be fast growing stocks yet.

Synthetic Biologics Inc (SYN): Synthetic Biologics: Randal Kirk And A Robust Pipeline For 2014 - Seeking Alpha

Synthetic Biologics Inc (SYN): Synthetic Biologics: Randal Kirk And A Robust Pipeline For 2014 - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article on SYN, a biotech company involved with developing anti-infection drugs.  I bought shares in the company this morning, and it is one of the few biotech stocks that I own.  As most people know, use of antibiotic drugs can be overdone, and thousands of people die each year from a side-effect of antibiotics.  This is where SYN comes in.  They have a drug that defeats the c. diff infection that mass antibiotics introduces.  The drug will most likely get a fast track status.  SYN also has other worthwhile drugs in their pipeline as well. So, I think the company is worth owning at $1.50 per share.  One securities company has a $4 price target on SYN, and it could go higher than that if their drugs are approved.

This is a link to an outstanding article at Global Economic Intersection which underscores that the economy is expanding.  The stock market will most likely keep rising also.  The CFNAI is one of the most important economic indicators.  The Chicago Fed National Activity Index is my number one source of direction when it comes to deciphering the direction of the economy and the stock market. We might as well get on the bull train until it stops.

Daily State Of The Markets: 2014 Planning: 2 Sell Signals To Watch For - Seeking Alpha

Daily State Of The Markets: 2014 Planning: 2 Sell Signals To Watch For - Seeking Alpha

Here is an outstanding article for knowing when to sell your stocks at a market top.  One technique that the author mentioned is to get out of the market when the S&P 500 closes below the 13-month exponential moving average.  This would have saved you from massive losses after market tops in 2000 and 2007.  Then, if the S&P 500 is above the 13-month line, just stay in stocks.  You could have made 25% in the S&P 500 this year and 33% in the Nasdaq.  We should never sell during slight pullbacks because commissions will kill you and getting back in at a higher price will hurt.

3 Must Own 3D-Printing Stocks [3D Systems Corporation, Stratasys, Ltd., ExOne Co] - Seeking Alpha

This is an excellent article about 3D printing stocks.  Certainly there is a bright future in the printing design area.  Like the author mentioned, the stocks are overvalued.  We should wait for a pullback to buy one or all of them, but the question is how big should the pullback be?  The author suggested the 100 day exponential moving average.  This has worked for big winners in the past.  Some current stock holders don't think the leading stocks will pull back 70%.  It is an interesting play, and it will be up to individual investors to know how to invest in this next big thing.

November Existing Home Sales - Look Out Below [D.R. Horton, Inc., SPDR S&P Homebuilders (ETF)] - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article pointing to a possible downtrend in housing.  The author brings up some worthwhile statistics to prove his argument.  He is also shorting DHI, and he has made money while doing it.

Existing-Home Sales Decline in November, but Strong Price Gains Continue | realtor.org

This is a link to the National Association of Realtors website.  The lead article is about existing home sales declining in November, and the sales were down year-over-year also.  This could be the start of a housing decline, or it might just be a one month statistic. Foreclosures and short sales are also discussed on the website.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc (INO): Inovio CEO Interview: PD1/PDL1 Inhibitors, Immunotherapy And Why Investors Should Be Excited About 2014 - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article on Inovio, a biotech company that is involved in developing anti-cancer and anti-infection drugs.  The company really turned the corner this year with its partnership with Roche, a large drug company.  This provided financial stability and trust in Inovio.

As a person who has been burned by biotech stocks in the past, INO is one of the few drug stocks that I currently own.  My good and bad experiences in the biotech field help me to see the real winners when they appear on the scene.  I believe Inovio will become a multi-bagger stock in the coming years.

Linn Energy LLC (LINE): Linn Energy: One Of 2014's Best Yield Plays - Seeking Alpha

Linn Energy LLC (LINE): Linn Energy: One Of 2014's Best Yield Plays - Seeking Alpha

Here is another great article by Bret Jensen about Linn Energy.  Since the SEC stopped its investigation of Linn Energy, and the merger with Berry Petroleum went through, there should be no further downside to the stock except for possible minor fluctuations.  I own Linn through the C-corporation ticker symbol LNCO, and I am well satisfied with the stock.

You can own Linn Energy as an MLP with the ticker symbol of LINE, and you get a 10% annual dividend paid on a monthly basis.  I own Linn through LNCO because I don't want to fill out the K-1 tax forms that go along with owning MLPs.  I still get a 9% dividend paid on a monthly basis.  So, I am making a little less money, but I am avoiding K-1 headaches.  It is still very worthwhile owning LNCO, and we will probably have a nice capital gain this year since the company's bad news is past.

The “Bull Market Top” Checklist | The Felder Report

The “Bull Market Top” Checklist | The Felder Report

Here is another great Felder Report on why we are near a stock market top.  Nobody can say exactly when the top will be reached.  It could be six months or a year or two years.  We just need to be careful and be ready to exit.  As Jesse showed by charts, the NYSE and Nasdaq summation indexes ($NYSI and $NASI) have been going down for months while the NYSE and Nasdaq price indexes went higher.  This disconnect cannot continue forever.  Sooner or later we will not have enough market breadth to sustain higher moves on the big indexes.

Dow, S&P 500 end at record highs after Fed trims stimulus: Thomson Reuters Business News - MSN Money

The Dow advanced 292 points for the day and set another record.  Since the Federal Reserve removed uncertainty from the stock market with a gradual taper on monthly asset purchases, stocks responded great.  The Fed also assured the market that interest rates will remain at the bottom for even longer than previously planned.  Housing starts in November rose to the highest point in almost six years.  Then, finally, the Senate passed the budget bill that the House had already approved so that Congress will have smooth sailing through 2015.

16% Loss Forecast For 2014 U.S. Stock Market [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, ProShares Short S&P500 (ETF), ProShares Ultra S&P500 (ETF), ProShares Short QQQ (ETF), iShares S&P 500 Index (ETF), Vanguard 500 Index Fund, ProShares UltraShort QQQ (ETF)] - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article predicting the stock market's future with a great mathematical formula.  The author uses the formula to make calculations about 2014 and beyond, and he places the math results in two great tables.  If we take the 6% reasonable earnings growth for 2014, this gives us a negative stock market prediction if a PE of 15 is accepted again as normal, and we have a possible 11% positive return if the market allows a PE of 20.  The bottom line is there is almost no way we can have another 25% up year.  The big investors will not allow another year 2000 balloon on high PEs.

So, the market PE will most likely not go over 20 in the near or distant future.  This means we are looking at 9 to 11% returns at best over the next several years.  We need to plan accordingly to play it safe, and we should be mostly invested in dividend stocks for a more certain return.  I recommend PSEC and PHT for good dividend stocks that pay on a monthly basis.  PSEC  pays over 11% annually and PHT distributes more than 9%, and these stocks will be a lot more stable than the general stock market.

Here is an excellent article about Texas Rare Earth Resources.  I own the stock myself, and I plan to buy more.  The author made some good points about the company's resource quality.  There is also uncertainty about rare earth minerals being supplied by China.  This conflict has raised rare earth prices in the past, and it can happen again.  I believe TRER is a good speculative buy for a small amount of your money.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp (CLNE): Clean Energy: 2014 Stock Of The Year Candidate - Seeking Alpha

This is an update article about Clean Energy and where they might be headed in 2014.  I have owned the stock for years, but I have been very disappointed with the slow adoption of natural gas for fuel.  I'll believe it when I see it that the stock makes a big move next year.  I will be monitoring the situation, but I will not be buying more shares of the company until progress is being made beyond all doubt.

Possibly Triple The Bakken, The Cline Shale Is Stirring Big Interest - Seeking Alpha

This is a very good article on Cline Shale oil and the companies who are operating in the area.  The Cline Shale is part of the large Permian Basin oil territory.  I own PBT which is an oil trust operating in the Permian Basin.  They pay a monthly dividend of more than 5% annually.  That may not sound like much, but PBT will probably hold up better than other stocks if we have a stock market correction in the near future.  I also own Continental Resources (CLR) in the North Dakota Bakken region.  They are the largest landholder there, and the stock could experience a big capital gain.

3 Reasons To Put Stocks On Shorter Leash [Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF, Energy Select Sector SPDR (ETF), Vanguard FTSE All-World ex-US ETF] - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article by Chris Ciovacco about how we should be cautious about the stock market now.  He presented two charts which illustrate a bearish pattern that is developing.  There is an old Wall Street saying that "you can't go broke taking a profit."  It might be wise to cash out of some stocks for now, and you can get back in later with better bull signals if a reversal occurs to the upside.

Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. - Home Page - Sat Dec 14, 2013

Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. - Home Page - Sat Dec 14, 2013

Here is a link to Northern Dynasty's (NAK) website.  The company controls mining rights for the biggest gold deposit in the world in southern Alaska.  Recently, the company ended its partnership with Anglo-American, and it is now 100% in charge again.  I have owned NAK for years, and I am buying more on Monday morning at a little over $1 per share.

I am well aware that the price of gold has been declining, but there is a lot of copper in Northern Dynasty's land as well as other minerals. So, NAK is a multiple value investment.  The company is trying to work with Alaska and the EPA on environmental issues.  Once these problems are resolved, I believe the company will move rapidly forward toward mining.  Investors may never find a lower price for NAK than right now.

Here is a link to the Finviz.com screener that lists over five pages of dividend stocks that are paying more than 10% annually.  Why would you want to beat yourself to death in a volatile stock market when you can own stocks that pay you more than 10% each year?  Sure, you probably want to buy some possible home run stocks or you may want to own a major index for safety.  But a large part of your portfolio should involve dividend stocks for peace of mind.  I own several of the stocks listed at Finviz.com like PSEC, LNCO, and WHZ. Once you get accustomed to receiving dividends every month or quarter, you will see how valuable this can be for your portfolio and your future.

Budget deal spooks Wall Street- MSN Money

Budget deal spooks Wall Street- MSN Money

This is an excellent article about how the proposed bi-partisan Congressional budget deal led to a big down day for stocks.  The twisted thinking is that the Federal Reserve will soon take away the QE money benefits.  Whether the Fed tapers or not, the bi-partisan budget deal is the best news to come from Congress in three years. Congress is finally wanting to work together so that we can have smooth sailing through 2015.

Another part of the article advocated that now is the time to short stocks.  I don't necessarily subscribe to that idea, but I will be looking for bargains after any corrections.  For example, solar stocks have experienced amazing gains this year.  They might be worth buying after a big pullback.  If you don't want to risk buying individual solar stocks, you could buy TAN, a solar stock ETF that will allow you to ride the solar boom in a diversified fashion that avoids the problem of picking bad stocks since most of the TAN stocks will succeed.

Silver Miners Analyst Watch: December Edition [Hecla Mining Company, First Majestic Silver Corp, Silvercorp Metals Inc. (USA), Endeavour Silver Corp. (CAN), Great Panther Silver Ltd (USA), Fortuna Silver Mines Inc., SilverCrest Mines Inc] - Seeking Alpha

Silver Miners Analyst Watch: December Edition [Hecla Mining Company, First Majestic Silver Corp, Silvercorp Metals Inc. (USA), Endeavour Silver Corp. (CAN), Great Panther Silver Ltd (USA), Fortuna Silver Mines Inc., SilverCrest Mines Inc] - Seeking Alpha

Here is a very good article about the best silver miners.  The author suggests possible price targets, and it looks like First Majestic (AG) could double from here based on today's price and taking the high target.  It remains to be seen whether or not silver will continue to fluctuate at the bottom of its range.  If AG drops down to $9 again, though, it will definitely be a buy because it will gain 10% on just about any bounce for silver.  This cycle could probably be repeated several times for a significant gain over the next few months.

Silver Set to Double, According to… Apple? - Money Morning

This is an outstanding article about the possibility of silver moving higher.  The author lists five reasons for silver increasing while gold will languish.  I think the best silver miner is First Majestic (AG), and the best ETF is AGQ, a leveraged silver stock.

These Nuclear Energy Stocks Could Be Next To Soar Like The Solar Sector - Seeking Alpha

These Nuclear Energy Stocks Could Be Next To Soar Like The Solar Sector - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article comparing uranium stocks which are on the rise to solar stocks that have already made surprising gains.  The author believes that Cameco (CCJ) and Ur-Energy (URG) could lead the way in a uranium stock breakout.  I own URG myself, and I plan to buy more.  With the stock market being overbought in some sectors, uranium stocks may offer the best current potential gains.

Crude Inventories Break 10-Week Streak Of Increases [Teucrium Crude Oil Fund, RBS Oil Trendpilot ETN] - Seeking Alpha

This is an excellent article about how weekly crude oil inventories are falling.  This has come after a 10-week rise in inventories.  If you are wondering why some oil companies are selling off now, declining oil inventories could be one reason.  Another reason could be the bad weather in the central and northern parts of the country, particularly in the Bakken area of North Dakota.  Oil executives probably know their production is going to be down, and they know the quarter results will not be as good as previously.  Thus, you may need to check the Form 4 reports of bearish oil stocks to see if the officers are selling.  Then, get yourself out of the stocks before things get worse.

MONITISE PLC (MONIF): An Update On Monitise's Fundamentals [Visa Inc] - Seeking Alpha

MONITISE PLC (MONIF): An Update On Monitise's Fundamentals [Visa Inc] - Seeking Alpha

Here is an outstanding article on Monitise, a mobile commerce company.  Mobile payments will probably continue to increase due to its simplicity and being able to pay with one device.  I plan to buy MONIF myself this next week.  This is definitely a stock worth watching, and it deserves some speculative money.

Why 401K Investors Should Move To Cash - Seeking Alpha

Why 401K Investors Should Move To Cash - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article presenting the bear case for the stock market.  I am still invested long myself, but I have my eyes on the exit doors and alarm indicators.  As long as the economy and unemployment are doing relatively okay, these major indicators will not be flashing red.  As long as most stocks are advancing, the market breadth indicator will not be alarming.  Sure, we can have some single-digit corrections, but only those who are very nimble will be able to make money there.  The best thing to do now is to play the November-December seasonal cards until a couple of alarm bells end the play.

J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (JCP): Did Kyle Bass Sell J.C. Penney Prematurely? - Seeking Alpha

This is a good balanced article about J.C. Penney.  The author discusses the good and bad news and provides helpful price targets from various groups.  Currently, I believe JCP is a buy in the low $8 range.

J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (JCP): J.C.Penney: A Better Risk Reward At $8 Than $6 - Seeking Alpha

This is a link to an outstanding article about J.C. Penney.  I own the stock myself and I plan to buy more on pullbacks.  The CEO bought $1 million of stock at $8.87, and I believe the stock can make it back to $14 per share and beyond.  This is classic value investing on bear rumors, and I believe JCP will beat the general stock market.

Here is another good website for staying up with mining news.  Although the current outlook is not good for gold and silver, you could still use Mineweb.com for research on good mining companies as well as possible trend changes.  It is definitely a useful website if you have the time to read the news there.

US Fed Decisions To Bust Gold, Silver Price Forecasts For 2014? - Seeking Alpha

US Fed Decisions To Bust Gold, Silver Price Forecasts For 2014? - Seeking Alpha

This is a great article on the forecast for gold and silver prices in the coming year.  UBS has predicted $1200 for gold and $20 for silver. So far, the bearish forecasts for precious metals have been right, and there is no reason to expect anything different in the future.  In another blog article, I pointed out that the World Gold Council has statistics showing a clear decline in the demand for gold.  When the Federal Reserve starts to taper QE, that will be another reason to avoid gold and silver stocks.  Also, there has been a mass exodus into general indexes, large cap stocks, and tech stocks. Moreover, there is no way to know exactly when it will end.

SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (GLD): Gold: Still Not Enough Demand For A Rally - Seeking Alpha

SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (GLD): Gold: Still Not Enough Demand For A Rally - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article about how demand for gold is falling.  According to the author, the cost of mining gold is falling also.  So, the price of gold can decline further while some miners can still make a profit. When the miners have to shut down, then the supply will be less than the demand, and the price of gold will go up.  We are not there yet, and gold investing should be on hold until things turn around.

Demand and supply statistics | Investment | World Gold Council

This is a link to the World Gold Council website.  Do you ever wonder why the price of gold has been steadily dropping?  According to statistics at the World Gold Council, the demand for gold is actually falling.  I never would have thought this would happen, but it has.  I'm sure the world still has plenty of gold bugs left, but until the demand for gold turns around, gold miners will not make much money.

Continental Resources, Inc. Com Stock Chart | CLR Interactive Chart - Yahoo! Finance

Continental Resources, Inc. Com Stock Chart | CLR Interactive Chart - Yahoo! Finance

This is a link to Continental Resources, an oil company with the largest land position in the North Dakota Bakken area where oil production has been increasing dramatically year after year.  I own CLR, and I have been watching it for several years.  The stock has gained more than 50% in the past year.  You simply have to be patient with the company because the rise is mostly gradual.

I have shown a current Yahoo chart below for six months.  Click on the chart to expand it.  The MACD momentum is down, but this is probably when you should buy the company on a pullback.  Most people are not going to pick the exact bottom or top in a cycle.  The price of oil has been going down, too, but it has now turned back up to stand at $97 today.  I am happy to own Continental Resources at a time when we have big questions about how much further the general stock market can rise.  I believe CLR will outperform the S&P 500 in the coming year just as it has during the past twelve months.

2 million stolen passwords for Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and others leaked online - NBC News.com

2 million stolen passwords for Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and others leaked online - NBC News.com

Here is an article about 2 million passwords that were stolen.  It is believed that they were stolen from personal computers rather than from the popular websites.  The article also stated that a lot of the passwords were simple ones like 123456.  So, once again, people need to make strong passwords, and personal computers need to have enough security to prevent remote control from happening.

Charting S&P 500 Breadth & Multiples [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust] - Seeking Alpha

Charting S&P 500 Breadth & Multiples [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust] - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article about how to discern a final stock market top before a bear decline.  Figuring out a top PE is somewhat elusive, but the book value of stocks and the breadth of the stock market are very good indicators.  As the author mentioned, we are not near a market top yet when it comes to book value and breadth of stocks above the 200 day moving average.

However, a market correction can happen at any time.  We are now down two days in a row on rumors of lower Christmas sales and Federal Reserve QE tapering.  We still have further to fall in this correction.  Take a look at the chart below from StockCharts.com for the S&P 500 versus aggregate bonds (AGG).  Click on the chart to expand it.  Notice that the MACD signal line gave a reversal clue that we were at an intermediate stock market top, and we were headed for a decline whose extent is not yet known.

InfoMine - Mining Intelligence and Technology

InfoMine - Mining Intelligence and Technology

Here is a great website to stay up on mining news along with commodity and precious metal prices.  You will probably make more money through buying individual miners rather than ETFs in the mining sector.  I recommend stocks like DNN, URG, and URZ for uranium.  As for gold, I like TGD and KLNDF.  As for copper, I own AZC as well as all of the stocks previously mentioned.
