What Will Happen When Debt Ceiling Isn't Raised? [SPDR Gold Trust (ETF)] - Seeking Alpha
This is an excellent article discussing the debt ceiling. The author pointed out that we could raise the debt ceiling to around $18 trillion, and we will be okay until December of 2014. Ultimately, we should not be funding any new programs. We need to be able to live under current conditions so that things don't get worse.
