3 Dividend Small Caps With Very Strong Growth Prospects Currently In Uptrend - Seeking Alpha

3 Dividend Small Caps With Very Strong Growth Prospects Currently In Uptrend - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article by Arie Goren about three dividend stocks with high future growth propects.  I own Hi-Crush Partners (HCLP) because their sand business is needed for oil and gas fracking.  Their price is almost certain to rise with the oil and gas boom going on in America.  Then, to top it all off, HCLP has a 7% dividend, and that makes this stock an incredible value in a treacherous stock market for other areas.

Increasingly Important Lithium Production May Bring Future Profits To These Companies - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article by David White which projects future demand for lithium along with companies that will supply the lithium and auto companies that will use lithium for batteries.  I bought LIT today.  It is a lithium ETF which will give you exposure to lithium companies without having to commit to one particular company.

Monthly Dividends

Dividend stocks should be a part of everyone's portfolio.  I especially like the stocks that pay on a monthly basis.  Several of the dividend stocks that I own are as follows with the dividend amount for this month in parenthesis:  HIX (.076 per share), ARR (.07), JNK (.21), O (.18), and SDIV (.134).

Is A 2011-Like Plunge In Stocks Coming Next Week? [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust] - Seeking Alpha

Chris Ciovacco has written an outstanding article about the 2011 budget crisis compared to the 2013 budget wars.  He included excellent charts to prove that the stock market is discounting the current Congressional battles as nothing compared to 2011 since the economy is doing much better.  The 2013 chart that Chris presented shows an important buying trend in the S&P 500 at the 100 day average.  Also, I liked the fact that the author showed TLT, the long-term treasury bond ETF, is still in a downtrend.  This means that most investors believe the stock market holds more value for your money.

Short Term Gainers

The chart below from Yahoo Finance shows two interesting short term gainers, WHX and BIB.  Double click on the chart to expand it.  WHX is an oil trust stock which is shown in blue on the chart while BIB, a leveraged biotech index ETF, is illustrated by a red comparison price line.  The chart basically covers the summer months including the August quarterly dividend payout time for WHX.

As you can see on the chart, BIB gained almost 40% during the summer months.  Biotech stocks have been in a long term uptrend since 2011.  BIB has gained more than 200% since the fall of 2011.  I don't know how long this trend will last, but I believe that BIB will continue to rise this fall after the Congressional budget crisis is past.

As for WHX, the stock fell hard after the ex-dividend date in August.  However, since WHX pays an amazing 47% per year in dividends at the current price, the stock did not stay long in the $3.70 range.  It steadily climbed back to almost $5 per share again, and it only recently pulled back some.  Several big investors appear to be seeking that huge dividend, but eventually they will lose capital as the oil trust drops to zero dollars in the next two years.  The point I am making here is that money can be made after the ex-dividend stock crash each quarter.  If you are able to buy the stock around $3.72 each quarter and sell it at $4.80, you can make 29% for your money during that quarter.  Naturally, the buying and selling points will gradually drop, but if you can guess right near the bottom of each quarter on the price, you should be able to make around 100% per year for your money while the opportunity lasts.

Insiders Are Buying These Ultra High Yielders [American Capital Agency Corp., Resource Capital Corp.] - Seeking Alpha

Here is a worthwhile article on two REIT stocks that are fundamentally different, but both of them have seen large insider purchases.  I own both companies, but I prefer RSO because of their commercial REIT business.  The home mortgage REITs like AGNC will be most affected by rising interest rates.

Attack Of The Small Dry Ships [DryShips Inc., Diana Shipping Inc., Genco Shipping & Trading Limited, Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc., Star Bulk Carriers Corp.] - Seeking Alpha

This is a good article on bulk shippers and the Baltic Dry Index.  The BDI is explained well, but there is more involved with the bulk shippers than just the day rates since most if not all companies have a lot of ships on fixed period rates.  Since the bulk shippers have a lot of competition due to fleets being overbuilt, this is a sector that will require a lot of research to get your stock picks right.

Graphene Stock Investing: What The Pros Think [Tesla Motors Inc, Johnson Controls Inc, SAMSUNG ELECT LTD(F), GrafTech International Ltd, AIXTRON SE (ADR), EnerSys] - Seeking Alpha

Here is an interesting article about investing in graphene stocks.  The author and his industrial advisors both said that you will need a long timeline for investing in graphene because it is very expensive for manufacturing anything with it right now.  You could put some graphene stocks on your watchlist or only hold small initial positions.

3 Signs The Fed’s Confidence Game Is Up | The Felder Report

This is a link to the Felder Report which basically states that we are in a "risk off" investing environment for stocks and bonds.  The stocks that might do well in this situation are MLP (natural gas and oil) index stocks like TYG and AMLP.  You will at least be getting dividends for your money.  A safe plan is better than a bad plan or no plan at all for investing.

Northern Tier Energy LP (NTI): Northern Tier Energy: Expect A Lower Payout For Q3 2013 - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article on Northern Tier Energy which appears to be the best of the MLP refiners.  I own the stock myself and may buy more after the current problems have settled down.  The author does a good job of explaining Northern Tier's operation, and the comments of others at the end of the article are helpful also.

Will The Winning U.S. 60/40 Strategy Keep On Winning? - Seeking Alpha

Having an investing plan like 60/40 stocks/bonds (S&P500/AGG) is better than no plan at all or a bad plan.  The author argues that a global plan of some type might beat the traditional 60/40 plan in the future.  Nobody really knows, but at least part of your portfolio ought to be invested 60/40 in case something goes wrong with risk investments in another part of your 401K.

Permian Basin Royalty Trust Looks Enticing With 9% Yield And Increased Production - Seeking Alpha

This is a good article on PBT, and I also recently bought the stock again.  The Permian Basin is experiencing a revival of oil recovery due to fracking.  The trend will probably continue for many years.  The 9% dividend of PBT with monthly distribution is very worthwhile for a diversified portfolio.

Augusta Resource Corp. (USA) (AZC): Augusta Is Undervalued Based On The Advanced Status Of The Rosemont Project - Seeking Alpha

Here is an excellent article on Augusta Resource (AZC), a copper mining company.  A double or triple is very possible for investing in Augusta, but you will have to be patient.  The environmentalist activists are all over the place in Arizona just like snakes that have been bothered.  I own the stock myself, and I plan to buy more as I see the project progress.

The Boeing Company (BA): Up 50% Already, This Stock Could Be The Dow's Biggest Gainer Of 2014 - Seeking Alpha

This is a great article about buying Boeing (BA) so that you can get a market-beating return.  I believe the author is right, and I also recommend Lockheed Martin (LMT) because they just got a $4 billion contract for defense missiles.  LMT also pays a dividend of 4%.

Alon USA Partners, LP Investor Relations Home | Partners

Alon Partners, ALDW, is a beaten down stock that is a real bargain now.  By owning ALDW, you are probably going to get a quarterly dividend of 14% to 25% plus, depending on various factors.  Now is the time to buy because you will probably get a significant capital gain to go along with the huge dividend.  I own the stock myself, and I plan to buy more.

Here is an outstanding article that lists many of the major players in the oil and natural gas industry boom that is going on.  I own a number of stocks mentioned in this article like GTLS, CLNE, and WPRT.  I am interested in buying other companies like CBI, MDR, and KBR.  The companies discussed in the article are definitely worth possibly owning.

Has Warren Buffett Nailed Another Market Top? [SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust] - Seeking Alpha

This is a great article about why Warren Buffett is an excellent market timer even though he denies knowing what the stock market will do.  Whenever Buffett has raised a lot of cash, it is because he cannot find any bargains, and he is protecting the assets that he has.  The article talks about Warren's current large cash position and how he tacitly called market tops in the past by holding a lot of cash.  I believe we are due for a pullback soon.

This is a great article on small cap and micro-cap stocks.  For example, IWC, a micro-cap ETF, is up almost 30% in the past 12 months.  Where can you find stocks performing that well or better?  NVAX looks like a good buy also because flu drugs are a definite win as long as they are safe and effective.

The Cline Shale May Be Triple The Bakken, Companies To Consider - Seeking Alpha

Here is an outstanding article about oil in the Permian Basin along with a great map showing the area oil spots as well as mentioning some of the companies involved in the Cline formation.  FANG and CWEI seem to be good possible investments, but a person should probably wait until the stock market pulls back.  The current budget battles in Congress may pull the whole market down over the next few weeks.

To Buy Or Not to Buy

The stock market is certainly due for a pullback, and it will most likely happen in the next two or three weeks due to Congressional budget battles.  Are we near a bear market, though?  The answer is "no" for a 30-50% drop for several reasons.  First, the economy is doing okay in spite of the fact that some people don't like it. The Philly Fed economic report for this month was astoundingly positive.  It was +22.3, up from +9.3 in August. Unless we are about to enter a recession or large war, there is no reason to worry about a bear market.

Secondly, we can look at the S&P 500 price and earnings.  Currently, the S&P price is 1709 with the latest earnings listed as $88 and change.  This gives us a P/E ratio of 19 which is higher than normal, and it points to a small pullback at some point in time.  However, if we do the earnings yield ratio E/P, we arrive at a stock yield of 5%.  This means the stock market will be growing slower, but stocks will still pay us more than the 3% interest from ten-year bonds.  So, the bottom line is that we need to keep buying stocks until bonds have a much higher yield.

3 MLPs With Attractive Yields And Growing Income [Linn Energy LLC, Enbridge Inc (USA)] - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article about worthwhile MLPs for investing.  I especially like EEP because of the Enbridge pipelines that will probably keep growing.  I also favor LNCO which is a part of Linn Energy.  This stock offers a 9% dividend with a potential capital gain as soon as Linn Energy gets past some bad investigation news.  You also don't have to fill out K-1 forms when you own LNCO.

Organovo Holdings Inc (ONVO): Organovo's Focus On Long-Term Value Creation Going Unnoticed - Seeking Alpha

Natural Gas Inventory Surplus Edges Up Despite Bullish Weather, Rig Count Back On The Rise - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article updating the situation with natural gas.  I especially liked the author's inclusion of a chart depicting a rise in drilling rigs.  As we move closer and closer to exporting natural gas, the drilling rigs and natural gas price should rise dependably.  I recommend buying PDS in the near future to capitalize on the eventual stock market gains from natural gas.

LMP Capital and Income Fund Inc Stock Chart | SCD Interactive Chart - Yahoo! Finance

This is a great article about SCD, a Legg Mason closed-end fund with a 7.7% dividend.  The stock is heavily weighted in MLPs and REITs, but it is probably a good way to play these areas in a safe way.  There is possible capital appreciation with the fund, and you do not have to worry about filling out MLP K-1 tax forms.

Here is a good article on buying and holding certain quality companies forever.  Although the dividends are much smaller than REITs and MLPs, all of the companies that the author talked about are worth owning for a diversified portfolio strategy.  I especially like UNP and CVX among the stocks that were discussed.

Protected Principal Retirement Strategy: Perpetual Trusts - Seeking Alpha

This is a good article about investing in oil royalty trusts.  I have owned SJT and PBT in the past when they were paying higher dividends.  Now might be a good time to invest in them again since oil and natural gas prices are likely to rise rather than fall, especially when we start exporting natural gas.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY): 3 Indicators That Signaled The 2007 Top: They're Back - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article on three stock market top indicators.  The advance/decline line and the money supply indicators are especially convincing.  The copper indicator is not always reliable.  One reason is that the Chinese economy has turned around during the latest PMI reading, and this means that China will probably be using a lot of copper in the future.  So, if the stock market falls, copper may not fall with it.  We still have a stock picker's market right now, but it would be wise for a person to pay attention if other bear indicators show up.

Blood Pressure

Those who read this blog know I usually talk about stocks here, but occasionally I believe it is a good idea to talk about health.  After all, what good would it do you to make a million dollars in the stock market and then live a short life because you failed to focus on health issues?

Blood pressure is one of the ways you can measure your overall health when it comes to your heart and your circulation.  I'm 63 years old, and I went to the dentist today to have an old filling removed and to get a crown installed in its place.  As a matter of routine, the dental assistant took my blood pressure since my dentist would probably not want someone to have a heart attack in his office.  I did not have any problem, though.  My blood pressure was 126 over 85, which is great for a 63 year old man.

How do I maintain good blood pressure at my age?  First of all, I eat a lot of beans, bananas, and potatoes.  These three foods do wonders for blood pressure because they are rich in potassium, an electrolyte which energizes the body in many ways.  Secondly, I take Coenzyme Q10 every day along with 1,000% of the daily requirement of Vitamin E.  Thirdly, I drink at least one energy drink each day with 1,000 milligrams of taurine which helps your muscles and your heart.  I hope everyone who reads this will do some research on how to maintain good health.  It will be worth every minute of time that you take to invest in a healthy lifestyle.

Inovio And OncoSec Retain Higher Valuations, More Data Anticipated Soon - Seeking Alpha

This article talks about two medical miracle stocks that could be great investments.  I own both companies. They both could probably grow five to ten times.  INO has really taken off, and it may not have anymore steep pullbacks for getting into the stock.  ONCS is less predictable, but it seems to have a current reasonable base for buying into the company.

How Do We Know If It's The Bottom In The Dry Bulk Industry? [DryShips Inc., FreeSeas Inc.] - Seeking Alpha

Here is an outstanding article on dry bulk shipping.  This is a high risk/reward area of investing.  If you decide to buy or trade any of these stocks, it would be best to take profits often because the overcapacity of dry bulk shipping results in very volatile stocks.

Prospect Capital Corporation

Prospect Capital Corporation

This is a link to Prospect Capital, one of the best business development companies in America.  I own stock in the company, and PSEC is the ticker symbol.  Prospect Capital is currently paying a super dividend of 12% annually, and you get a portion of that each month.  The stock has been fairly stable in price, and I recommend buying more of the company on pullbacks.

Global X Funds

Here is a link to the Global X Funds website where you can view the different income ETFs that they offer.  I own SDIV, the Global X SuperDividend ETF.  The fund pays a dividend of between 7% to 8% annually, and you get a portion of the money each month.  This is one of the most dependable income stocks that I have ever owned.

Energy Infrastructure Investing & MLPs, Closed-End Funds, Mutual Funds & SMAs | Tortoise

This is the website of Tortoise Capital Advisors, an excellent company for investing in MLP infrastructure and other closed-end funds.  I own TYG, the Tortoise Energy Infrastructure closed-end fund.  The stock has an annual yield of 5.2%, and there is a good chance for capital gain also as America starts to use its vast resources of natural gas.

Health Benefits of Chamomile Tea

Health Benefits of Chamomile Tea

Here is an interesting health website where you can learn about the benefits of certain herbs.  I believe it is better to prevent health problems as opposed to waiting too late to fix something that has gone wrong.  We should stay out of the doctor's office as much as possible to save on expenses and to avoid being hooked on modern medicines which have a host of side effects and which may not be able to cure a person's problems.

BDC Rankings: September 2013 [Prospect Capital Corporation, Fifth Street Finance Corp., American Capital Ltd., Ares Capital Corporation, Main Street Capital Corporation, Blackrock Kelso Capital Corp., Apollo Investment Corp.] - Seeking Alpha

This is an outstanding article about business development companies.  Many of these companies pay a high dividend, such as Prospect Capital (PSEC), and yet some of the companies are safe to own.  I bought Prospect Capital myself after watching it for quite a while.  The company pays its 12% dividend in monthly installments.  I also believe that the best business development companies are safer than the REIT sector companies.

The author does a great job in analyzing the BDC sector.  He is worthwhile following at Seeking Alpha or at his website.  Business development companies are an excellent way to diversify your portfolio along with getting paid substantial dividends.

Should You Invest In Lending Club: A Statistical Analysis - Seeking Alpha

Here is an interesting article about the internet Lending Club.  You may be one of many people who have gotten mail from them since they are seeking borrowers.  Their material sounds interesting.  However, their process may not work for everyone.

Suncor Energy Inc. (USA) (SU): Record Oil Sands Production Should Propel Suncor To $40 By Year-End - Seeking Alpha

This is an excellent article about Suncor, a great Canadian oil producer.  I believe SU has considerably more upside versus downside.  I plan to buy Suncor for my own portfolio on Monday.

World Economic Outlook Database - Changes to the Database

World Economic Outlook Database - Changes to the Database

This is a link to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).  Since the economies of the world are so dependent on each other, it is prudent to keep abreast of IMF news in order to make wise investments. Economic statistics matter tremendously when it comes to stock market direction.  For example, during the 2008-2009 economic crisis, world exports declined dramatically.  The Baltic Dry Index as well as the IMF data would have shown the export crisis.  This would have been one of several reasons to be in cash or government bonds during the stock market downturn.

TICC Capital Corp. (TICC): TICC Capital For A Sustainable 12% Yield And Upside Potential - Seeking Alpha

TICC Capital Corp. (TICC): TICC Capital For A Sustainable 12% Yield And Upside Potential - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article about a business development company which has an annual dividend of around 12% paid in quarterly installments.  I personally prefer Prospect Capital (PSEC) which also pays a 12% dividend. However, any company that pays a dependable dividend of more than 10% is great to own, especially if you are retired.  If a person has $150,000 in his 401K that can be divided into several dividend stocks paying 10-12% annually, that person will essentially double his or her income assuming an average social security check of $1500 per month in retirement.

EXCELLON RESOURCES (EXLLF.PK): Excellon Resources - Mexico's Highest Grade Silver Mine - Seeking Alpha

EXCELLON RESOURCES (EXLLF.PK): Excellon Resources - Mexico's Highest Grade Silver Mine - Seeking Alpha

This is a great article on Excellon Resources, a high-grade silver miner in Mexico.  They can produce silver at $14 per ounce on a long term basis which is a lot lower than the current silver price of $22 per ounce.  The article was very informative about the company's infrastructure and its competitors like Great Panther and Endevour Silver.  The only problem I see is with the low trading volume, but this may improve in the future.

2 Small Miners To Consider Here [SPDR Gold Trust (ETF), iShares Silver Trust (ETF), Hecla Mining Company, Endeavour Silver Corp. (CAN)] - Seeking Alpha

This is an excellent article about two silver miners, and they are great buys currently.  They can both produce silver for less than $20 an ounce, and this is something other silver miners cannot do.  These stocks could both double in price over the next 18 months.

Realty Income Corp (O): The Wonderful Wizard Of O - Seeking Alpha

Realty Income Corp (O): The Wonderful Wizard Of O - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article on Realty Income (O), the monthly dividend REIT company.  The company is a tremendous buy now that the price has declined due to fears about rising interest rates.  The current 5.5% dividend will be hard to beat elsewhere.  Also, when the stock market comes to its senses and sees the great value in Realty Income, the price of O could easily rise and be a 30% capital gain as well.

Is Gold's Bullish Turn Sustainable? [SPDR Gold Trust (ETF), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, ProShares Short S&P500 (ETF), iShares Barclays 20+ Yr Treas.Bond (ETF)] - Seeking Alpha

This is an interesting article about the recent rise of gold over stocks and treasuries.  The author brought up the idea of gold being the "no place to hide" investment since treasuries have been going down in price and stocks have been limping lately.  I agree that gold has come off the bottom, but nobody knows how far it can rise.  I would be a buyer of gold and silver if they fall back to the breakout points of $1200 for gold and $20 for silver. Demand for precious metals will always be here, and buying at the bottom will always be profitable if you have enough time to wait for a rally like we just experienced.

ProShares Ultra Silver ETF Chart - Yahoo! Finance

ProShares Ultra Silver ETF Chart - Yahoo! Finance

Here is a chart of AGQ, the leveraged silver ETF.  You could have easily bought AGQ in July for $16-$17, and the stock was selling for $25 on September 3, 2013.  If you bought the stock for $16.50 in July, you could have sold it on September 3 for a 50% profit.  Since I know the Yahoo Finance link for AGQ will not show this chart too long due to daily updates, I have shown a Paint snapshot of the September 2013 situation below.  Double-click the chart below to see a bigger image.

Now, how should I have known that July 2013 was a valid bottom for silver?  First, silver itself was selling for around $20 at the time, and that is the break even price for most miners.  Exactly how high silver goes in the future is a mute point when silver is at the bottom.  It was due for a bounce off the bottom because silver demand is still present.

Secondly, the London Bullion Market website has what is known as a Gold Forwards (GOFO) page where it lists gold delivery prices.  The GOFO number was negative for several days in the first half of July, and this is a sign of a gold bottom.  Since gold and silver move together, the GOFO negative value was a clue that both gold and silver would probably be moving up in price, and that is exactly what happened in August and September.

Global Economic Intersection

Global Economic Intersection

Steven Hansen wrote an article at Global Economic Intersection about the August ISM reading.  It is 55.7, and this means we should not have to worry about a recession in the immediate future.  The stock market could possibly draw back due to worries over Syria, but I doubt we will see a big pullback since the economy is doing okay.

Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (USA) (NAK): It Is Time For Copper Bulls To Consider Northern Dynasty Minerals - Seeking Alpha

Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (USA) (NAK): It Is Time For Copper Bulls To Consider Northern Dynasty Minerals - Seeking Alpha

Here is a great article on long term investment prospects for Northern Dynasty.  I own a small position in NAK because I believe the future cash profit of the company is enormous, and I have followed Northern Dynasty for several years.  However, the environmental risks are very troublesome for the stock, and most investors would not want to wait several years for this possible 10-bagger.  I will buy a lot more of the stock in the future if and when the permits are obtained and mine construction is on the verge of starting.  When this point in time is reached, the stock price will probably rise by a double initially and outperform other stocks.  Then, over ten years, it will probably grow ten times as long as they can control environmental issues.

The Forgotten Longevity Benefits of Taurine - Life Extension

The Forgotten Longevity Benefits of Taurine - Life Extension

This link about taurine is something that is just as important as the subject of books and stocks.  Taurine is an amino acid that can strengthen the heart, reduce triglycerides, and remove fatty deposits from the liver.  Just 1.5 grams of taurine daily reportedly reverses diabetes in 14 days.  Weight loss has occurred with 3 grams per day. Taurine also helps blood vessels stay supple instead of getting rigid.  This is definitely a supplement that should be a part of everyone's diet especially as a person gets older.

Golden Minerals Co (AUMN): Golden Minerals Has Enormous Upside Potential - Seeking Alpha

Golden Minerals Co (AUMN): Golden Minerals Has Enormous Upside Potential - Seeking Alpha

Here is a good article concerning a speculative buy for Golden Minerals.  As the article states, silver prices may be at a bottom at around $20 per ounce since most miners need a higher silver price to be profitable.  AUMN will most likely be worthwhile to own if we get into another silver bull market.

5 Natural Gas Transportation Stocks For 2013: August Update [ConocoPhillips, Cummins Inc.] - Seeking Alpha

5 Natural Gas Transportation Stocks For 2013: August Update [ConocoPhillips, Cummins Inc.] - Seeking Alpha

This article about owning natural gas transportation stocks is very good.  I have owned CLNE and WPRT for years.  I believe the time is right to buy CMI and GTLS also.  As the article points out, if you count dividends, this stock group is doing as well as the S&P 500, and the potential for gaining more than the S&P will continue to get better when we start exporting natural gas.
